What causes the speedometer to not work?

What causes the speedometer to not work?
My speedo sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Sometimes I can hear a spinning of something behind the gauge cluster. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

U could at least say what year and type of engine it is.

ur speedo cable is probly broken it happen to me a few year ago junk yard item that cost me like 15$. or maybe it just came loose from behind the guage cluster check and see.CalgaryMx-3Guy wrote:Ah. My mistake. 92, 1.6L. Thanks!
