Engine Removal

Post by MazdaNoob123 »

i know theres the manual and s--- but i was wondering from guys that have done the swap what they would recommend for making the engine removal go a little easier. Like should both engine and transaxle be removed or just the engine.
Also a list of things i should do before i drop a new motor in
Clutch
Timing Belt

What else is a must ?
I still cant find anywhere in the shop manual where it says there should be a 1in hole in the side of the block. (Blown K8) #6 rod thrown through block.

All this is in faq. Ive pulled the engine a good 4 or 5 times. Engine + transmission. I memorized where the connections go so i dont have a prtoblem with vacuums and wiring. The faq says it all. Step by step.

Pulling the motor for a K series is rediculously easy. Disconnect the wiring harness, loosen mounts, pull axels out, disconnect exhaust mani's, attach engine lift, remove mount bolts and pull!

Things to change... Well I would suggest changing the water pump, timing belt and tensionner, clutch (especially if you're upgrading to a DE or a ZE), exhaust gaskets and fluids. There is tons of info on this board, just start practicing with the search function ;)
