I would know since i swapped it. Don't know if the one's before 94 are the same but I just unscrewed the bottom part, popped of the side by the door and there are more screws (I believe 2) and that there are a couple screws for the top section and most of it is not screwed and can be popped off. Than after that you can clearly see the four screws holding the cluster in. I wish I took pics it would probably help more.

To take the shroud off:
1)Take out the 3 srews at the upper end of the gauge cluster shroud.
2)Remove the upper covering of the steering wheel
(the part covering the ignition, signal and wipers).
3)Lift up the little rubber flap
4)Remove 1 screw from each side just behind the rubber flap
(total 2screws)
5) Carefully pull the gauge shroud off. May have to do some toying with
it if you have the cruise controls and hazards. You just need to push in
the small tabs on the top and pull the connector out.

To take the Physical cluster out.
1)Remove the black screws that are over the silver tabs.
There are 2 on top and 2 on the botom.
2)The cables that the cluster connected to are a little bit of a pain to get
out. Usually, you can use a screwdriver to push the tabs down so you
can pull the connectors out. There are 2 on the left and 2 on the right.
The 4cyc I had also had the speedo cable connected. You kinda have to fish your hand back there to get a hold of it. Theres also a small tab to push in and then you can pull the cable out.
