ooo! ooo! i get to field one of these!

dude, if you use the search function, you will find A LOT of answers. the members of this board have done everything that can be done to the MX-3, and have written about it. i'll throw you some bones though, here's some businesses that sell performance parts for MX-3s:

You've got the DOHC, which means there will be a lot of miata parts you can use, such as cams. A lot of miata internals will work in your engine, and they'll usually end up costing you less than performance mx3 parts too.

Spend an hour or so searching the site, you'll find a lot of useful info.

Here's my contribution:

Ebay cold air intake:

let me see for u guys that can't find anything let alone think aftermarket parts from other mazda fit in the 1.6 dohc mx-3

Miata 1.6 dohc camshafts stage 1 & 2 work with dohc mx-3 any stage past 3 u'll need to mod the head.

Miata 1.6 dohc cam gears work with dohc mx-3

Miata 1.6 dohc Underdrive pulley works with dohc mx-3

Miata 1.6 dohc alm. flywheel u'll need miata pressure plate mx-3 disc. works with dohc and sohc mx-3

Miata 1.6 dohc aftermarket rods & pistons interchange with the dohc mx-3

Cold air intake on http://www.ebay.com

1.6 dohc mx-3 header on http://www.corksport.com

i'd be willing to bet there is something to do we haven't figured out yet...... but we will eventually :)

but serious just think of what you are looking for and use the search option... cause there are actually a lot of things headers / cam gears / cam shafts / performance cylinder heads / and the list goes on

let me see

protege LX 60mm TB and 220cc injecters

2nd gen RX-7 VAF

1.6 mx-3/miata Under drive pulley

corksport has a header for the 1.6 sohc.

rare had to find cam gear very hard to find.

go to exhaust shop and upgrade exhaust to 2- 2 1/4 in.

1.6 miata alm. flywheel u'll need miata pressure plate 1.6 mx-3 clutch disc

ebay Cold air intake, FT,RR sturt bars, lowering springs

upgrade to a 90 amp alt form a V6 mx-3/mx-6

all i can tink off for small upgrade for the 1.6 sohc. unless u put a BP 1.8 dohc from a 90-94 mazda protege LX/GT

I dunno if this is bad for anything, but i put a BP09 ECU in (protege ecu) with a BP VAF too. ECU raises the redline to around 7500rpm and i definitely feel more power too.

Across the board, meaning in every instance where I've run into a SOHC it's hard to find parts, a lot of SOHC owners just modify as much as they can and that's all they can do, it would be worth it to swap to a DOHC if you really want to do internals and such, this is especially true for Saturn owners as I used to be one, kind of the same deal with the mazda's I'm seeing, just get a DOHC or milk what you can out of the SOHC and kinda accept it for what it is doesn't mean it won't serve you well.

http://www.gude.com has a cam for the sohc too. I'm not sure but i think it's a re-grind though.
