cut along story short.. if you had a obdII mx-3 how would you drop a klze into it.....how can it be done..how would you get over the fact that the mx-3 is obdII but the klze engine is obdI ??
I did try and help daryl use the search on this one but we both got confused as there seems to be quite a few ecus out there......

Hi Garfy, just to clarify;
I know that it is possible to swap a KLZE into an OBDII MX-3, and I am not after information on how to do it.
I just wanted to know if there is an OBDII ecu as standard found on a J-Spec MX-6 (2.5 KLZE).
Just to clarify things for myself as to why I have not heard of one.

I thought that manufacturers had no choice in the matter. After 95, I thought they had to utilize the OBD II system. So much for my wild a-- guess...my appologies. This shouldn't stop an OBD II MX3 from doing a ZE swap. Just a technical issue wrt rewiring the ECU connectors I would think.
Whats the KL62 ECU?

You need a Japanese ECU from a KLZE equipped car with OBD-II. They are available just check any JDM engine importer. They have 4 sets of plugs instead of 3 like the OBD-II cars.
yes kl 62 is gonna work ..i have it too in xedos9 with klze engine and manuall tranny -stock...Kl 62 ecu is from xedos9 (millenia) and suports obd II

A search using just that as a search parameter revealed no less than 35 threads containing KL62 ECU in it.

I believe the kl62 ecu uses an maf, whereas the kl36 and kl31 use a vaf.

A kl62 ecu will not plug into an obd-II mx-3 wiring harness.

OBDII is a North American thing.
"OBD-II is used as a general term and can mean any of the following:
OBD II (California ARB)
EOBD (European OBD)
JOBD (Japanese OBD) "
Europe didn't adopt EOBD until 2001, though. I don't know when JOBD was instituted.

Hello
The J-Spec ECU does not conform to any OBD I or II standards. They
have different emissions requirements in Japan and did not use EGR
set ups on those cars.
The standard ECU is a KL 31.
Let us know if there is anything else.
