ok this mornin my back suspension went on me and the hole thing just dropped rite down (tire almost tucked inside the well) and it started to go this week apparently and the ride is very rough. as far as i know the struts r good but the springs arent. i dont got a whole lotta money at the moment and i dont wanna get stock stuff. i used the search function and i found that aftermarket springs dont go good with oem struts/shocks. is there an aftermarket set of springs i can use with oem struts? i only need it to last about 6-7 months dont ask y.

eibachs, intrax, h&rs.. anything with either low spring rate or not too low of a drop springs. if u only need your struts to last 6-7 months, go for it ;) lol

A aftermarket spring will wear the strut out much faster than a stock spring b/c of the lower ride heigth. (info from several local tuning shops)
I'd also bet it is the strut not the spring, unles you know the spring rusted through. The spring generally lasts a LONG time, but the strut if stock is way over due. Anyway, the post above lists most of the major brands that make springs for the MX-3.

why would a defective strut drop the backend down? i thought it was the springs that holds it up

That exactly what I though...especially since my Koni's aren't even gas charged.

Duncan, there's a ton of info wrt comparisons of different strut/spring combo's that was posted late last winter and early spring. All of the info you asked for in pm is also contained in there too.

hmm hey have you checked the strut itself? if you need stock ive seen a ton on ebay. This happened to mme once but it was the struts lip it belt because i hit REALLY hard and the springs were bad causing the porce to fall on the lip itself (front struts) also make sure both of your bolts are on the strut? alot of crazy and stupid crap has happened to my mx3...
