car just dies??

My buddy has a gs and the car justdies when he is driving it...what could be causing this to happen?? Everything dies lights, motor, everything!!!

maybe a little more info here.....what do you mean "just dies"? It dies when your driving?, it dies when your idle is low, down shifting, at a stop?

it dies when he is driving... say at like 60 km/hr

it is also throwing codes 05 and 12!!

Ok 5 is knock sensor located inbtween the to banks under the Intake manifold runners.
12 is the Throttle position sensor..located on the throttle body.
If your prob is not those it could be the ignition coil in the disty (you have to replace the disty) Are cars have a habit of heat making the ignition coil go afterwhile. when it does your car will just shut off randomly.

does he have to charge the batter after each stall, if so check the alternator
