A/C question

Post by hgallegos915 »

Does the ac motor use oil ? My ac motor makes a ticking noise at low idle. I was told they need to be lubed..anyone ? I already recharged the system.

The a/c doesn't have a motor, it has a belt driven compressor. Unfortunately they can't be lubed - the only oil is inside the compressor and can only be put in with the refrigerant.

Definitely not a belt tick? Theres no shredding?

The compressor will tick if there was not enough Oil Charge. This can burn out your compressor. You can get just a Oil Charge from any store like wal-mart or something...
