First Wide Body Kit for MX, im backkkk!!!!
hey, everyone, well its been 6 months since i announced id be making a AB FLUG inspired body kit.
http://successnorth.com/MX3/1.jpg
I was working on the front bumper, first time fibreglass user!!. It took about 7 days and i got the bumper complete aside from the top portion to attach perfectly onto an MX. Well I did it out of sheet metal and the thing is a little too heavy, so i scratched the idea and decided to restart. The new way of working is almost immediate, about 25 hrs and i have the one side almost complete is shape. Next step is , overlaying the fleece, resing nad fibreglass, then sanding, bondo and sanding , the primer. Im aiming at finishing both sides the end of May.
Of course I'll prolly change the shape slightly to make sure it flows perfectly. My parts are going to b molded into the body, but if i decide to make copies of the kit, I'll make it before i blend it.
Let me know what you guys think.
Mind u, the widths the lendgths are considered and wont make the kit stick out crazy from the front and rear tires.
Check out the pics here.

Progress
thx for props,
Teh great skilled body man....ME!, yes i suck at handyman, buut i built the enitre front bumper out of fibreglass, cardboard and resin and it turned out great, but its too heavy, so i know how to work with it now.
After cardboard, will come strety material over the places where cardboard will be, this will allow perfectly straight lines on the car. This will be tweaked for final shapes.
After this a correct formula of resin and MEK has to be fixed and primed over the material. Once this is done, the material will harden within 24 hrs or so , it will be hard enough to knock on it.
AFter this, ill add one layer of cloth fibreglass over all the parts and then either fibreglass strands (which will be expensive but easier) or layout 4 layers of hand layed fibreglass. Once thats done, ill turn it over and apply one coat of cloth fibreglass on the inside of the parts to make them little stronger.
Once fibreglass is all laid, ill smooth it all out with sander, then fill in more gaps with fibreglass, then bondo, sand, and bondo again until perfectly smooth.
Sounds like a lot, but its really a lot of fibreglass work and making sure it dries properly. Since I work from home, I can work on this daily until nightfall usually and once i start the fibreglass would be done in 2 days or so on one side. End of next week the entire side should be almost done, ill do the entire side before i start on the other half to make sure I can do it and nothing happens.

update!
All right boys and girls, another 5.5 hrs of work today, , something always comes up!!!, like RAIN!
Anyways, i got a lot more than i thought i would today.
I shaped the final details on the cardboard to get the lines at least almost to follow all the way across the car. Still gonna fix those up with bondo to make them really stand out.
The other problem i kept asking myself, is how the HELL am i going to seperate all these pieces IF I decide to make a mold out of them!!!.
I started cutting out shapes slowly and maticulously confirming them to the existing body, so it would fit. So I got all the pieces seperated and, then I started to Cover the pieces with stretchy material sand gluing it.
It was a little sticky in the first time, but I got 3 pieces done!.
Left side Rear Panel is done, Door Side Panel is done, and Fender is done.
Check out the pics here.

This is yesterdays rear i forgot to post, it blends in better all fleeced up.

now the fender that u see will be connected to the other fender I already have. so thats not the final version.
Thats it for now.
As for the prices. No freaking clue yet, but its gonna be a full body kit, because if u get one part and not the other, its just not gonna work:!. Except if u want to get the side door panels, i could see those working with another kit sorta.
I know that in order for me to even break even on the materials for the mold and all the fibreglass for the first copy I'd need at least 2 orders.
