BP engine Alive then dead.

Post by BuGS »

Hey, Well over the past two weeks I have worked 4 days on the swap. Got the engine out found I needed some parts ordered the parts then got the engine finally in a sorta running last night. Now here is the problem:

After Cranking running the fuel pump etc., I found I had two O-rings on the fuel rail go out. So I fixed em. Now My Timing was very retarded so I advanced it. My problem now is I turn the car on runs for either 2-3 then dies or as soon as I press on the gas it dies.

2-3 sec: Ok I start it up goes up to 2000rpm then sits for 2 secs then dies. I have tried to either after it dies to push gas but nothing. It seems like it almost just shuts its self off or runs out of fuel. It imediatly drops from 2000 to 0 just like shutting the car off.

Gas: I start it up and it goes to 2000. If I touch the gas at all it dies.

That is as far as my knowledge goes. This was all down late last night so I might have missed something. Any help is greatly appriciated.

Thanks

PS using the BP ECU harness and tranny

The one from the MX-3. I have an RX7 one sitting here so I might try that.

Well I was using the B6 maf but that hasn't seemed to work. The only time it worked was when we held the flap open about 3/4. Then the engine would idle. So we broke open the cover and tried to tune it. No luck. So we tried and rx7 one. (I don't have a BP one) So, messed with the settings on that, Engine timing, and TPS. I need to track down a timeing light and a couple other things. A WYOTEC grad is helping me tune it.

Anything else it might be? We just redid the fuel rail thanks to someone leaveing orings off and not seating it right. Hopefully it is all good.
