FS: 93 MX3 RS+Escort Parts car+BP engine+ACT clutch+more

Post by What »

My wife and I are going to be moving to a house as you probably saw in an old post and with school and trying to work I don't have the money to continue with the project. I'm going to sell the MX3 and parts off and pick up another cheap Swift GT that a friend of mine is offering me.

I need to grab or find my old pictures here, I'll post them up this weekend. If anybody wants to come by and look at any of it, call me (Kyle) at 397-3295 or email kyle_jones@hotmail.com

It saddens me to stop on the project this far in, but not much choice being strapped for cash right now.

Up for sale -

1993 MX3 1.6 SOHC RS with 260,000kms and still runs good. The owner before had it since 1995 and has most/all it's records from that time. A spot of rust over each rear fender, and front/rear bumper have little knicks in them as well. I was planning on just repainting the car with different body kit, but that requires funds I don't have. Asking price is at $2900 and will go in the bargainfinder as this. I will work with price for someone in the club. Red with biege interior.

If you're interested in the rest of the stuff that follows - the ACT clutch, the Escort parts car (BP ECU, wiring harness, axles, brakes and booster, etc. etc.) the modified head, etc. I will give a combo price of $900 for the following.

I have:

an ACT clutch plate and 6 puck disc for $250CDN.

DOHC 1.8 BP head that has been sandblasted, valve work with 45 degree seat to appear larger to flow, back-cut on valves, head decked 10 or 15 thou (I'll find bill) to bring compression back up from combustion chamber clean up, and port work on both intake and exhaust. Most of the work was done close to the valve where the biggest differences are to be made for flow improvement. It was not port matched as I believe that reversion of polluted exhaust gases will do more harm than good. The intake was left roughed up with 80 grit for better atomization of fuel and so droplets do not stick to the wall. Bumps and risers in the combustion chamber around the valves were removed to better accomodate forced induction. Any riser can create a hot-spot and greatly increases chance of detonation. This head should make power on a NA car, and would be perfect for a forced induction car as I made it for. I will have a flow chart of a stock head vs. this one this weekend hopefully. The guides looked ok and the motor didn't smoke in the car it came out of so I didn't touch much else. If you are worried about guides or valve seats and don't want to take a chance on them like I was going to, you're welcome to do the work. The valve job and surfacing was close to $300, and for the hours and hours of porting and flow testing, and assembly I'll take a bite and only want another $150 for the head and all my work for a total of $450CDN.

For the rest of the stuff, I can part it out seperately and add prices, but right now I'll hope that someone wants the combo deal first.

I also have a second spare BP head that I needed for flow comparison and can be used for whatever purposes you desire.

And I have a somewhat dissassembled Escort GT parts car, so I have pretty much every other part you may want or need and will sell whole

A BP block that has been sandblasted and cleaned up. The crank has not left the block. I took out the rods pistons and cleaned up the top of the pistons. I would just put in some new rings, rough up the cylinder walls a bit, and put it all back together. The motor ran good minus one cylinder the rings were a bit worn.

I have the G series trans that I was going to rebuild, but didn't have the funds. It was locked out of one gear while still in the Escort and should be fairly cheap to fix even if you have to take it to one of hte shops in Calgary while it is out.

BP ECU, wiring harness (easier to attach to other engine), front disc brakes, rear disc brakes, brake booster, all lines, alternator, etc. etc. etc. for the BP,

The escort GT parts car has tinted light covers and spoiler and all that if you wanted to recoup some of your costs and sell that seperately.

It's a 93 Escort and does have a sunroof... I may part it out, but we'll give it a week or so for someone else to decide if they want it as a package or not.

yadadada...

I seem to get more calls wondering about it being an automatic than anything. Apparently the MX3s aficionados aren't looking for sohcs. :) I may jsut rectify this problem in some manner and then list again for a little more after finals.

If someone really wants to look at the car in the meantime, you can pm me.
