battery pretty new, but light keeps coming on

hey everyone, wow im sick of winter..anyway quick question,

last year I bought a new battery for my baby and for some reason this winter, the battery light keeps coming on. It goes away after driving it long enough...but I wanna know whats causing it. The car drives fine when the light is on. The only thing I can think of is my belt that sqeals when its cold could that be linked to the altenator..hence the battery light???

sounds like the altenator is weak!! O r maybe the belt is slipping?? either way that would be why there is squelling, and a battery light!!

Yeah, it's probably the belt. Give it a bit of a tighten and everything should be fine. But afterwards, use a voltmeter, if you have one, to see how much power the alternator's putting out.
