Alrighty,
Most of you know that I have a 1992 Automatic.
I have about 111,000 miles on it and have had it since 70,000. I take VERY good care of it and have it serviced at the least little sign of trouble.
Yes, I have been plagued by the Damn low idle problem that everyone else has.
Today, I had some more service work done to it that has made a HUGE difference @ idle and the way it drives.
Wow! What is it??
Well, 1st of all,
I replaced my transmission filter. Which, apparently, is supposed to be changed every 25,000 miles or sooner. I have never had it replaced, nor do I know when the previous owner replaced it if they did. The part came with the O-ring and the gasket for the Transmission pan.
My Transmission fluid was Black. Not red like it should be-- BLACK.
Cost: $15.99 at AutoZone (Car parts store)

2nd: Added a Transmission Cooler
Wow, what a SIMPLE MOD!!!
It cost me $39.99 at AutoZone and came with everything to mount it and lines to run everything with. I got the idea from surfing around and checking out Andrew Pakula's page of stuff he had sitting around to do.
What the Hell does a Transmission cooler do??
- It cools your transmission fluid on its way back into the Tranny. I mounted mine in front of the Condenser right behind the front bumper. It looks pretty cool and it will make my transmission last a whole lot longer. Heat is a mortal enemy of our sucky transmissions.
So thanks for the idea Andrew-- if you read this.
Anyway, I just thought I would throw out some new ideas for those who think they have tried everything.
