Hey all,

I've just recieved my OEM CF hood from the awesome group buy that was held thru the UBB. With the wait aside (that's acceptable and understandable) I have a few problems and questions...

Anyone else that will recieve a hood through this GB could you confirm these two questions:

#1 Do you have visible dust in the center of your hood (Under the Clearcoat)? I do, t's quite visible and takes from the smooth look of the hood.

#2 Is your hood latch on straight? I mean, to properly fit my hood I HAVE to remove the stock latch on my car...If I don't there's a 3 inch gap where the hood pops up. It's phsyically put on crooked. :D <====
But that was to the top half which only had a few very tiny scratches and bubbles on the sides. But when I took all of the packaging off to test fit it on my car, the dust in the center threw me right off!!! I couldn't believe it.

Tyson, Buddy, I feel for ya man. I know youve had great hopes for this C/F hood and now your like a little child whos father just ran over his dog with the riding lawn mower. I was considering the Invader style C/F hood also from Oscar, Im now thinking I should look else where. :driver: mx-in' cross canada :driver:

Haha....my dad DID run over the family cat once! Poor fluffy. Joking :D

Don't get me wrong, I'm still happy about it. It's just sad that quality was compromised on my hood. I'm hoping that these posts will insure that the other hoods will be flawless! I'm taking one for the team! ha

You're taking a tour?

Marlon, why would this post get deleted?? I try to return emails as often as possible, but in the case of the group buy, Jeff is the person that should be contacted until it has been officially completed.

Seneca (Tyson), Im sorry to hear about the problems you have encountered with your hood. As everyone knows, this buy is taking longer than any of us has expected and hoped for. I for one am also waiting for an Inverted hood.

I hope that this hood is the only case of poor craftmanship, although I have seen some in person and know for a fact that they should be exceptional in quality.

Dust particles is difficult to deal with, especially with carbon fiber hoods. everything is very visible.

I have spoken with the production team and have addressed these problems to them (Saturday Morning) I was ensured that extreme care would be taken with the rest of them.

I have tried to hurry this buy as much as possible. Everyone should be aware that when things get rushed, mistakes happen.

In terms of the latch. On one of the prototypes, this had happened to me also. It seems that someone was sleeping when they were putting them on. this is the second time im experienceing bad latch assembly.

All in all, i dont want to assume anything yet. I would like to see wht the outcome is for the next batch.

any updates will be posted as usual in the group buy forum.

The inverted scoop prototype was tested on Friday and was a "success" in terms of centering, alignment, and location. It clears the front cylinder bank (V6) and finishes before the rad support (YES!!!) One minor problem is that it slightly hits the oil cap, and i do mean slightly.
This problem will be taken care of by raising the inverted part by 6-7 mm. In the end, non-significant.

The inverted is still a means away from completion, but this was not a simple task to begin with given our engine bay and the design of the scoop.

I will have some more pics of the hood installed on my car, but they are still in the rough stages.

Nope. Apparently the pins were supposed to be in a couple days later. But, if memory serves I had to take the latch off to fit the freakin' thing. So no pins = no car :rant2:

Im just gonna go to CanTire and buy a set. I need them.. I mean....it would only take 1 day express mail to get here.

Sigh........

Tyson

ps- Don't worry, I'm sure all of your orders will go thru just fine. If I cause a big enough fuss they will be xtra cautious with yours I'm sure. Good luck guys.
