Is this worth the prices?

Post by zevirii »

I stoped by the local import performance shop today, call "Protech". I asked them alot about the Mx-3, and they knew alot about the little car. They told me they cand do anything to it all custom work. I asked about the KLZE Swap and a turbo. This is what they said.
KLZE swap(including installation and ALL parts(engine included))
$2500 US
Custom Turbo system(dyno tuned)(All parts & installation included)
$5500 US
He said with this setup I will get atleast 13's on the 1/4 mile. My question is it worth the cash for that turbo?

to me, it's a waste to turbo the k8. go with the ze.
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

He never said anything about the K8, he IS getting a ZE...pay attention! :p I personally dont think the turbos worth it, you wont get much boost on a ZE anyways. Just my opinion though.

Protech is a good shop with KL experience. I take what Justin Nenni has to say with great regard. 13's is highly conservative, which is why they can guarantee you that. You should trap in the 110-115 range with that setup, depending on boost.

5500 USD is a fair price for a custome turbo set up, most popular turbo kits(honda, miata) cost around 4500 if not more.

When you talk to Nenni, ask if they've still got his 2.7L KLDE PGT around. And check out the size of the Blitz turbo on his Supra while you're there too [Inducer bore like a softball :) :D

that must be for a twin turbo setup because 5500us is pretty steep IMO. UNLESS they use the top notch shiat!

I have been reading arround and I have seen people saying that a turbo on a KLZE will wreck the tranny and axle? Is this true? I will be using this car as a daily driver and some weekend track time... I need it to be reliable.
