Post by jap »

Do you guys know any good spring company that makes 2-1/2 inch drop springs or atleast a 2-inches drop spring?
Will a 2-inch make the car look slamed?

In theory, ZX2 Struts /w suspension techniques lowering springs will give you a 2" drop in the front and a 1.8" drop in the rear. Why? The ZX2 struts are .5" smaller than the oem struts, and the suspension techniques are rated 1.5" front / 1.3" rear.
HOWEVER, this varies from car to car. For example, when I installed the above combo on my 92' GS...I only got a 1.5" drop in the front and 1.0" in the rear (Why? I don't have a clue). After a couple years, it should settle a good .75". I plan to take my car in soon and get a professional to cut ONE coil of the top of my rear springs.
[ March 31, 2003: Message edited by: zytariuk ]

What about H&R springs? Do they make spring for or cars with a 2 inch drop?

H&R's will give you a pretty decent drop. Like 1.25-1.5"
Zitayrik, do you really expect your car to settle .75" after a while?? I've been driving with a similar setup to yours for almost a year now, that includes a lot of spirited driving. And I haven't seen a big difference. Maybe it did settle a bit, but it wasn't that noticeable.

I just like the way a 2-1/2 drop on a car looks. I like when you see no space between the car wheels and the body of the car. I know it will be hell when driving around miami but I think its worth it when I'm on the highway and the car takes the curve better and sticks to the ground better.

Strut suspended cars cannot be lowered that much without MAJOR handling issues or a lot of money.

what he means is, if you just slam your car, with out the proper parts it will ruin the struts causing the ride to be very bouncy, also it will bottom out and hit the bump stops all the time, race cars have a totaly re-desinged suspension for them to sit lower and still handle well.
Im sure you have seen a slammed civic or 2 driving down the road, and when it wits a small dip in the road it bounces up and down like 3 or 4 times, thats because the struts got blown from slamming it.
droping it that much will also have an effect on the toe settings, its called bump steer, when you hit a bump the toe changes making the car unstable, race cars have suspension experts that designe parts to fix this, afew companies that make suspension parts for racing make this kind of stuff for mustanges, cameros, and other popular sports cars, but I dont know anyone that makes it for the MX-3.

I don't just plan on droping the car. I'm doing the whole suspension. I drive in my friends integra every day with a 2-1/2 drop and it seems to take bumps the best I've ever felt. All he had done was just springs. I'm not trying to be rude to people but all I wanted to know was if you guys know a company that made 2-inch drop springs.
