never been done before, so there are no pics to show.

basically, if you have tons of cash to throw around, you could do it. But it's not very practical and the structural makeup of the MX wont allow for a convertible without heavy modification

Thats what I would do. The MX was NEVER meant to be a convertible and will not be structurally sound nor a safe car to drive after the whole roof is cut off. Serious bracing/roll cages might POSSIBLY work to help bring some integrity to the chassis but I bet you are looking at over 10k to do something like this...Buy a Miata.

A MX-3 was not made to be a convertible. Convertible's are for girls.....Please, tell me you do not want a convertible?......(LOL)

P.S.
You should be on the Miata Site!

the simple fact that you're asking people if they KNOW how to do it suggests that you dont know how to do it. And personally i think its wrong for you to be asking for people's money to start this project and have to ask basic questions about what it is you're trying to do. If you are SERIOUS about pursuing this, you should ask questions, then visit your local bodyshop and see what they would say, then lay out your plan, THEN ask for sponsorship. You cant expect people to pay when you have NOTHING to show for it.

And please refrain from posting the same thing 3-4x in different forums. The others were deleted BTW.

Hey, a convertable Mx...well after the steel you(if you wanted the car to be structurally sound and not just throw a roll cage on it) and the top you would have to add, probibly around 700+ pounds extra wieght to your car. Now, maybe if you've got a decent turbo conversion or possibly even a GS (I wouldn't know, never driven a GS), but if you're running a stock 4cyl, a Geo metro will beat you in a race. Just my 2 cents.
