I beleive they were all twin turbo. The only single turbo I've seen on 93+ were aftermarket conversions. My sister-in-law's boyfirend had a T78 single turbo conversion. Absolutely huge!!

All FDs were twin turbo. You can get single turbo setups with T78 turbo or T04 and they make that car quick enough to easily kill Z06s and Vipers. Go to www.rx7club.com to see their kills section. Many people there are running singled FDs in the 11s and low 12s. You can even find some 10s if you look around. I'm always at that forum because I've been looking for a good condition rolling chassis for almost a year and a half. Still nothing... :(

The RX-7's 93+ weren't all Twin Turbo but the fast one's were. However, regarding the issue of the single turbo, they were either twin turbo or no turbo. Also, having a single, larger turbo made the rx-7 much faster cuz thw twin actually slowed it a bit during acceleration due to the build-up time for pressure... so single turbo is def the way to go if you want high speed. (RX-7 93+ touring edition w/ twin turbo happens to be my dream car

Where did you get this? All 1987-1991 T2's were single turbo, all stock 1993+ FD Rx7's were twin turbo unless the owner modified it to a single with an aftermarket turbo (which many do).

All 87-91 T2s were Twin Turbo also but they were only 200hp compared to the 93+ 255hp Twin Turbo. There were single turbo FCs and N/A FCs. There is also the 1st gen FA with the 12A engine and the 1st gen FB with the original 13B engine. The 12A is carbourated and the 13B isn't. Both versions of the 1st Gen RX7 are N/A only. ALL 93+ ARE TWIN TURBO STOCK...no such thing as the slow ones being N/A. Read up before you post please. try www.rx7club.com to learn anything you need to know.

No no no. All 87-91 T2's were SINGLE turbo. There we NO twin turbos in the 87-91 model years. The 87-91 was known as the "Turbo II" because the first generation Rx7's were available in turbo form also (12a engine) but ONLY in the Asian market. Instead of using a turbo to increase power for the American market, they made the 13b available in the 84-85 models (in the GSL-SE model).

Also the 1987-1988 turbo FC's (SINGLE turbo) were 182 HP, not 200. The 200 HP version (again, single turbo) was during the 1989-1991 model run when Mazda increased the compression ratio and made a change to the turbo.

Depends who you ask and where you look, but 276bhp @ 6500 rpm, and 296 ft-lbs torque @ 3000 rpm (according to a Mazda brochure). The 20b is a 2 liter, three-rotor engine, with a twin sequential turbo setup. Its an easy $10,000 - $20,000+ swap.

guyaverage you're right, T2s are only single turbo, I got it mistaken and last I checked 20Bs were 350hp or something actually. The 13B in Japan had 276hp. Mazda had to say the 20B was 276hp to comply with Japanese law like they did with the Supra (which dynoed at like 320hp). There are also street ported 20Bs that run like 425hp or something. But they're expensive!! I'm not sure about that 15,000-20,000 number but it is expensive.

I hate the V8 swap. It throws off the whole weight to power ratio but it does make lots of power. Nothing that the rotary cant do though.

Yea it seems way out of line but I've seen that number from a couple different places actually. It seems high to me also but one guy gave a breakdown for mounts, ecu, drivetrain mods, the engine, exhaust, misc. junk, etc etc.. It added up pretty quick and the way he broke it all down it did make sense. Spending 20,000+ to get serious HP in an Rx7 its kind of easy to see why people do the relatively cheap V-8 conversions although I do agree it throws the character of the car completely out the window.
