,mx-3 swappable transmissions

Post by korban »

For all the ppl out there that have the v6 model klze/klde or original 1.8L do you know if there is a list anywhere of swappable (bolt on) tranmissions?

I know the mx-6 transmission is a good bolt on especially for those that do alot of highway driving as it has a better final gear ratio.

But are there any other trannys that can be used?

Thanks

I am sure that ANY Tranny from a K-Series engine will work (bolt on)

if you want exotic, then try one of the sequential gearboxes they used on the BTCC mondeo's and whatever the mazda equivalent was (Ian would know what the UK mazdas were called)

checked the XEDOS 2.5L v6 nice car overall.. maybe other swappable bits, seems to look alot like a klde engine in there... downside is it only came in automatic... need to find me a beasty standard transmission

That's right, all Xedos9/Millenias are ATX.
I don't think you're going to have much luck - there's only the 626 and MX-6, and that's basically the same box as the MX-3.

But you could try posting on http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/mazdamx-3owners/. Vaugn Nishimura posts there, and he's extremely expert on Mazdas and clones.

Doesn't the KLZE tranny have LSD ?
And how is the 2.5 tranny ? Slower 1/4 times?

The m3 1.8l v6 has a closer gear ratio , therfor has better 1/4 times but not a better top speed as compared to the 6 tranny.

The only difference is a higher 5th gear, 1-4 are all the same.

Sounds like I should get a KLDE tranny , the 1.8 tranny sucks for highway
