Iv decided to follow D coleman's advice and fit a custom intake to my 1.8 V6<p>1. If I want to rplace the rubber bellows between the Throttle body and the air flow meter, what do I do with the small pipe that goes i at 90 degrees to the bellows ? I was hoping to connect the throttle body straight to the airflow meter with a simple short length of pipe. My bellows is split and needs replacing anyway.<p>2. There is a small vac pipe going into the air box. Can it be blanked off?<p>3. With the air filter hanging down so low, does it take excessive regular cleaning? I live in UK so the car will be driven in the wet for 33 percent of the time!

I did and after that my idle was crap..leave it pluged like it is..Their's 2 vaccum plugged with a connector on a braket..don't touch this setup..just relocate it somewhere else..And the vaccum lines pluged on the OEM tube (the big and smal one)..Just replug them on your new piping

Just get a foot long peice of tube and one 90 degree bend. You need 4 couplings 3 3in. to 3 in. ad one 2.5 to 3 to hook to your throttle body. You shouldnt have any problem with it being down to low i ha a hole cut in my bottom splash guard and my filter stuck in it. You can see it from undrneath the car. I did plug the Tube that comes off the ribs , well i put a filter on it. Mine works fne an i can tell a huge difference.

thats good news. In fact I looked earlier on and was considering a similar thing (putting filter through guard)<p>I guess I can clean filter regularly if needed.<p>Going to have a go this weekend. Do you use a generic 3" cone filter? Or do people find a particular make works best?<p>(what about the mushrooms on ebay? any good?)

The filter itself is kinda small (surface area) since its just an actual cone shape rather than a cylindrical shape. But the kewl part is that it already has a heat shield.

Iv heard others say this. Im bidding on a 3" ractive at the moment (the only one in UK on ebay) well see if i get it.

Yep I have a Ractive Heat Shield Filter on my MX-3 and my MX-5. They work great, sound great, and can be color coded to match your car!

Where should the pipe/hose be plugged then? When removing the air box there's no place to plug it.

can some one sendm e the link to wherei find this post i cant find it any where...i am looking for the topic on how to build your own and this is the closest i can find...jsut because i would liek to see and know what i need to get... thanks
