Steady hissing sound coming from the front

Post by Andrew_Pakula »

I am getting a steady hissing sound coming from the front.
It is only happening when the car is in motion, when the car comes to a stop it will go away.
I think it is coming more from the front right side.
Other than the steady hissing sound while in motion there is no other noticable problems, steering and performance is fine.
It only started happening tonight while on the hiway.
Any ideas?

No clue, brakes are ok I think, no noticable problems stopping or anything like that.
Have never had any rubbing problems before, however I'll take a closer look in the morning.

the brakes are a serious posibility as the wear indicator can come on early or prematurly causing a squiling or rubbing (or maybe hissing)sound with no noticable loss in braking performance...good luck

I think it is definately brake related.
Today it was stopping and starting again on the hiway.
I noticed a few times if I tapped the brakes the noise would stop.
So something is up with the front right brake.

you should be able to see the wear indicator on the side of your pad...looks like a metal clip...check it out.

Sounds like the slide is stuck and the pad is resting against the rotor, it will keep rubbing until the pad is gone.
