I'm gettin me an mx3
I've been sort of browsing for a car for about 2 years now and finally fell in love with the MX3... It came down to 3 choices here in Winnipeg. 1 was a 1995 RS, automatic, very base model, 173,000 km s (ouch.) The other 2 were what I was into, one was a 1992 GS (or GL?) fully loaded, red, pretty nice, 175,000 kms. The other is a 1995 RS automatic with only 90,000 kms. Both are same price. I took the RS out and fell in love, it's in absolute mint con'd, the Creek Blue Mica. It's been very well taken care of. I decided to go with it mainly b/c the lower mileage. (The '92's seller also seemed REAAAALLY sketchy, couldn't give me the car's history at all, and there was obviously some putty work on the front 1/4 panels though the guy swore no work had been done on it-I may be a girl but I'm not stupid.)
So I'm all pumped. Hopefully it will be mine by next week. Can't wait!!! I'm cruisin through all the posts for good ideas of what to do with the car. It's completely stock- virginal. Even original tape deck (since I live in Winnipeg there is no way I'll be putting in a CD player- might as well invite every shifty thief in the city to break in. Instead I'll get an adapter for my ipod.) Any good recommendations for fun stuff?
I'm a bit worried, I've heard lots of bad about the auto transmission... The seller says she's never put any work into it, it's been OK. Maybe I'll be lucky. The hatch is a bit hard to close, you've got to slam it hard. Apparently this is a recent problem. I think it's cuz the seller just moved here from Ontario and the poor car isn;t liking these -40 Winnipeg winters. Hope it's OK.
I'll get a good pic of the car for the color comparaison, the one posted here is a bit grainy...

Awesome!
I just got one also, I don't get to pick it up yet. Seller still needs it temporarily.

You might not like to hear this, but GS model is so much worth it. (not that one specific, but in general). You get 2 extra cylinders, V6, more displacement 1.8, which means the engine will like hills and reving so much more without any whining.
The suspension is a bit different too, which you might notice while taking sharp corners.
Don't forget the sound will be a bit deeper.
Also, girl or guy, anyone who says "maybe I'll be lucky" is pretty stupid. Make a checklist with you, or someone who knows cars to go with you. You can save yourself from a lot of costly repairs, including the hatch that doesnt close. You wouldnt want that to open in the middle of the highway while going 100kph?
It's a big investment, don't let your excitement cloud your judgement.
BTW: 170,000+km is pretty good actually for a 1992 car. Mine has 220k ('92) and is doing very good. If it's been taken care of, it should last 300k+ easily
Read or at least skim through the checklist here:

Re: I'm gettin me an mx3
Me personally I like the 4cyl more than the 6cyl just personal preference however. Gas Milage is better and apparently less problems. Im buying a 93 4cyl manual with 192000 kms on it.
