Buik is in a scramble to rename it's soon to be released Canadian 'LaCrosse' model when they learned last minute that Quebec teens use LaCrosse as a slang for masterbating. (I still can't figure that one out) Fearing negative conetations Buik has decided to rename the car alltogether.
Not the 1st time a car co. has made this error.
When the 'Nova' was introduced in Mexico it got laughs because 'nova' is slang for "doesn't go".

well what I said is totally correct....but you have to get into technicalities and suddenly it's just no longer funny.
I said it got laughs....not that it didn't sell well.
"no va" means doesn't go...
but if you're Spanish and you see a car that says Nova it's easy to make a joke. Hence LaCrosse....and masterbating. LaCrosse is a game but when a word sounds the same as another it get's made fun of. US will still get the LaCrosse....Canada will get Chouxfleur

yes...heres the lesson.

voy=to go. in the spanish language va is the singular word for male and femal.e van(you are going) vamos(we are going) vamemos(they are going) if i remember correctly.

no=no

nova=no go or doesn't go/move. although not commonly used...it still makes sense.

and i hate spanish!! stupid you gotta take two years of it...bah!

My previous car was a 86 nova / corolla twin. It was ok, got good fuel economy, but handled like total crap.....was good while it lasted
