Hope you guys can help out. Most of the shops here don't like to do mod engine swaps. I want to do the 1.8lt to the 2.5lt. If you don't have to change anything (trans.,mounts, ect..), if you do it's because the part is worn out. The engines look the same from the out side. You think if I tell the shop it's the same engine, you think they will catch it.

Plese help, thanks.

Re: fake
well heres the real problem, the shop wont know till they get the engine out if you need extra parts, which means they have this gutted caar and engine sitting there taking up precious space that could be used for paying customers. On top of that your looking at 1000-2000 dollars of labour.
My suggestion is to ask one of the mechanics off to the side if they would be interested in making 500 bucks on the side to do the swap for you. Print out the walk through explain to them what they need to do and look for. Mechanics dont make that much money in general (some do of course) but 500 bucks for 1 maybe 2 days of work is worth it no matter what they make. Just be sure to have everything there for them. there is a 25yo guy that works on my car at the shop i go to and he was more then happy to look into it, all he asked was give him some detailed info before he agreed to do it.
Also look in the paper in the classifieds, there are alot of people offering there mechanical assistance for extra money.
