The 91's are as good as any other year in my opinion and experience. The 89-91's are slightly stronger than the 86-87's. Having owned several I shy away from the Turbo II's because of the relatively shorter engine life compared to the n/a's. Generally when the T2's self destruct, they REALLY self destruct. Usually an apex seal breaks and destroys anything and everything in its path, to the point of half the engine being un-reuseable.<p>As far as head gaskets, rotaries dont have a head gasket. Or a head for that matter. The closest equivalent would be the water seal ring between the rotor housings and side housings. You're looking at a complete teardown for that. If you are looking at an Rx that that is blowing water or steam, or the new owner said it needs a 'head gasket', its the water seal ring(s) that are probably giving the trouble. Its rebuild time.
