engine swaps and turbos seem to be the way to go.. If you got a sohc and crave more power consider doing a BPD swap there cheap and are mucho upgradeable later

I still have faith in the SOHCs(even though i swapped in a b6t). but mods i did and would recommend: 2" cat back 2.25" high flow cat and strait through muffler(great for top end) along with a UR crank pulley(you won't believe the difference, it actually pulls past 4.5K and doesnt sound like its going to blow :2thumbsup: ). the ignition , rx-7 maf, and conical filter all helped as well, but all costed. best bang for the buck:exhaust or pulley.
my 2 cents
B6T powered MX-3 - sold
Stage 3ish 03 WRX - sold
03 S2000 - current/ for sale

I havnt had any problems of the sort with my UDP (under drive pully). Really it will change the rpm band its most effective at, but that is a thing that is finiky as is =]

there are some things that can be done to the SOHC, although the fact the mx3 isn't super light isn't going to help. I have a custom camshaft in my B6ME motor with header and full exhaust. car runs a 15.38 1/4 mile.

Then agian, this is on a Festiva which weighs over 600 lbs less than the MX3

Yes there is a bolt on turbo kit for the SOHC but not for the DOHC yet. The dohc has other options though, there are some header swaps that work.

The udp reduces parasitic loss from weight and load placed on it by accsesories. It doesnt make more power it frees power up to do toher things.

Same concept behind a lightend flywheel.

OUr festivas tranny popped. We had rigged up a capri tranny but it had a slight problem as well =( (two giant holes in the case ooops) So ours is parked it ran a 1/8th of 10.11 with really bad traction problems, and some other bad issues =]/
