1.8 SOHC Protege engine?

Post by Alberto »

Hey, i was searching ebay for parts, and found this protege...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/e ... r=0&t=0
it says its a 1.8l 4 cyl, but if you look close on the pic of the engine, it is in fact the same SOHC most mx's came with. with the exception of slight changes such as the location of the breathing port of the valve cover. Is this really a 1.8? what makes the difference in displacement? hope someone have some info, i can get one of those engines cheap and make mine a 1.8, and add some extra juice... thanks!
------------------
Alberto
1993 Mx-3 1.6l Se
Brilliant Black!

Nope, don't bother. There is virtually no difference in power.
$450 gets you a NOS bottle. Cheap thrills.
For all that effort and pain (lots of it) just get a turbo.
RF
