front bumper accident

Post by marshmallow15 »

i got in a little accident....not too big....i was going at like 10 and hit a lady's rear bumper. she claims that the rear bumper is messed up and broken, but it's just a scratch under her bumper and you can see some of her red paint on my front right bumper....do you think this ladie's claims are true and if so, how much do you think repairs for it will cost for her car? because i don't want insurance to get involved since i'm only 17.

She's probably bullshiting you about the damage to her bumper.
Over the winter someone bumped into my bumper in a parking lot at very low speed. All it did was scratch the paint a tiny bit.
However I was also in a minor accident last year as well where some idiot was following too closely behind me and then I had to break someone was turning and he hit my back bumper. This caused a little more damage, the clips underneith the bumper had to be replaced and the bumper replaced.
Luckily he didn't want to report it to insurance so he offered to pay for the damage.
Now remember she most likely has a deductable. Chances are most likely that damage is under $300-$500 so insurance wouldn't cover it anyways for her.
So basically if you don't want it to report it and go through insurance then make sure she gets some estimates first on the damage and then go from there.
If she won't go with you to get any estimates or won't produce any estimates on her own then tell her to go to hell.

the thing is that she has a volkswagon and her husband works for the service center...i met him at his workplace and he got an estimate on the repairs...it was all printed out on this sheet....i just said to myself "screw it"...this whole damn thing is messing up my vacation. so now i'm just blocking their phone numbers and forgetting about it. my insurance expired last friday and she doesn't even have the correct insurance policy number.

A- if she doesn't have any of, or full legal info on you, ha ha F@#k her she's tryin to scam you cause you're 17!
B- I believe one has to get an estimate from a collision center. There's NO WAY an insurance company is going to pay for a dealership to make the repairs.
C- the most a scratch or a small crack is to repair is like $100-$200Can(depending on how bad)but most collision places will charge more due to an avg.$300 deductable.
Good luck dude! :)

i got news for you.. even if you didnt lie you would have still gotten a new bumper.. no insurance company is gonna replace the old bumper with a bumper with other prior damage.
