MX3GS/Auto In Pittsburgh for sale $2,500

Post by matrix412 »

Here is the info for my 1993 MX3-GS.

It has 118K miles on it.
Price: $1500.00

Photos: http://www.avalon.net/~matrix/mx3/

It's a 6cyl, Auto, leather, with pretty much power everything (locks, windows, sunroof, mirrors, etc)

- the car starts fine and runs well but I'll list everything that I know is wrong with it, and please remember I'm not a mechanic. Please also note that I'm giving as many details as possible because I don't believe in selling people something when they think they are getting something else.

The car is purple which I like, however it's the same paint the car was sold with with, and Mazda had some paint issues that year so you can see spotting where rocks/etc have hit the paint. As someone who's on mx-3.com I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about. The paint just doesn't hold up to normal weathering and it's never been repainted.

The seatbelts are broken at the shoulder - this is actually a defect covered by Mazda and can/ should be fixed for free under recall.

The car has a bra on it - I don't know what's under there as I've never taken it off - I've looked under and even reached under it with my hand cant' see anything, but I imagine there is something the previous owner tried to cover up.

The passanger side axel/joint needs replaced. The drivers side is brand new and when I got that replace the mechanic said I had about a year before hte other one is toast.

The two biggest problems with the car:

1: The transmission leaks. I don't know if it's something simple or something major. You need to put about 1/2 a bottle in every week and as long as you keep the fluids correct there is no slippage.

2: The engine leaks oil, and my mechanic believes it's the gasket under the heads. He also believes it's because I put in regular oil after the pervious owner used synthetic, which i didn't know was a bad thing, but apparently it is. The engine has never run hot and I've never let it run low enough to so much as have the oil light go on. The problem started happening right after I changed the oil - around may - and I stopped driving the car in July (except for occasional trips to the store to keep it happy). It's about 1/2 a bottle a week as well.

The brakes are new, but the are so easy to replace I'm sure you don't care. Even *I* replaced them easily.

The cruise control doesn't seem to work, I have no idea if this is just a fuse or what I never checked.

There is one crack in the interior plastic in the back seat behind the driver. It's also viewable in the pictures.

The muffler is mostly new (replaced most of it in Jan I believe_ The battery is brand new (died the last day I drove it, got a new one for the last potential buyer)

The leather is in pretty good condition except for a rip on the drivers seat that you can see in the pictures.

All four tires are new (Feb) and in really good condition.

The aluminum rims were just cleaned middle of the summer.

The sunroof works perfectly

I can not spot any rust anywhere on the car.

The car comes with a CDplayer (aftermarket, nothing special) and the speakers are original and do their job.

All in all I think it's a fairly soild car and I didn't get a new car I'd still be driving it and working on keeping it roadworthy. However I'm not a mechanic and I think someone who loves MX3's would do this car more justice than I ever could.
