Have you tried testing your spark? Just cause the car is starting doesnt mean your disty is good. It could be dropping spark and picking it back up again. Try taking the disty apart cleaning it with brake clean. Then test your spark. I know some people may disagree. But theres more to a disty then just sending spark

I wouldn't use brake cleaner, but I would agree cause I've had many cases of misfiring and was always corroded points on the cap.
Gasket was never bad, I believe it's condensation that overtime corrodes the points...
