If I ever get a 94, I'ma swap the 93 dash in. Maybe that's the case, slim, but maybe....

that's my vote, I was informed that only the early 92's came with the diamond mazda logo. my own 92 is the early 92 and has the same diamond logo on the steering wheel.

also, didn't 94 have the newer seats and interior?

Yep. We know it's not a '94.
The question was whether it's a '92 or a '93.

I wasn't thinking about buying the car. It just pissed me off that the guy was posting it like a '94, so I wanted to post a reply calling him out.

Thanks everybody for the replies. :D

Why?
Does it make a difference to you how many replies I get, or if I call him out or not?

I was actually surprised to find out the 92s have different oil filters than 93+ even though most changes started in 94.

I have a 92 and a 93 manufactured on 2/92 and 9/93 that I'm parting together and the absolute only difference is the 92 has a sunroof. and they both have the rounded diamond emblem.

No, they don't. I saw your reply this morning, and later at work I spent some time at the computer. ALL MX-3 RS, from '92 to '95, use the same oil filter (Fram PH or TG 6607, Purolator L or PL 14612, Mobil 1 M1-108, or K&N HP-1008), and all the K8 and KL-DE engines also use the same filter (Fram PH or TG 7317, Purolator L or PL 14610, Mobil 1 M1-110, or K&N HP-1010. I don't know if there's a difference with the KL-ZE though...

Well, at least that's what our computer says. And, so far, I have found no mistakes with our info.
However, sometimes you will find differences, depending on where you look. For example, when I worked at Wal Mart doing oil changes, the oil filter for the Toyota Corolla was the Fram PH 7317, while if you look on AAP system, it's the PH 4967. Just so happens that both filters have the same base and thread, just one is slightly bigger than the other one.
Maybe that's the differences you saw...

Okay this is off Fram's website using their part look-up application:
1992 MX-3 GS

And now 93
Image

As you can see they changed the oil filters in 93. And I even looked at them to compare em - the thread and gasket line up identically the only difference is the (92) 3593A is slightly wider and shorter than the (93+) 7317. Oddly enough, when I looked it up for the MX-6s and Probes only the 7317 came up so it must be the newer one. Hmmm, how strange.

Yep, you're right. But it gets even weirder.
I just looked in AAP site, and this is what I found:

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/webapp ... 0filter___

As you can see, Fram DID change the filters, but all other brands didn't...
And if you look at the AAP filter (second from the top), it has the same number that Fram filters have starting on '93.

I'm guessing the change may be due to commercial considerations, instead of technical ones...
