i have a 1992 mazda mx-3 GS and i have replaced the 02 sensors, crankshaft position sensor, and thats about it. Not a bad car but it does have that idle problem and a possible vacuum leak, as well as the valve covers are shot. But its still running and its got 216,000miles.

I have 169.000 miles on mine and the engine is still going strong. The parts that are suffering in mine are transmission bushings, shocks and springs, and little things like the fuel sender unit resistor being worn through stopping the fuel guage from working.

All worn original parts that can be replaced fairly cheaply :)

I know this is old, but I just read on the main page under the engine specs part in one of the links and got excited:

A USA oil company researched engine longevity using their own oil:

"After 300,950 miles the Mazda MX6-V6 passed an IM 240 Exhaust Emission Test in Aurora, Colorado, with results well within new car limits. At more than 310,000 miles, the test engine was disassembled for inspection and measurement. No wear was evident on valve stems and guides, main and rod bearings, crankshaft main and rod journals, or cylinder walls. The cylinder hone marks from original factory machining were all clearly evident. While piston skirts showed no wear, piston rings showed an average of only 0.0015" of face wear."
The V6 rivals the Lexus V8 for longevity, which is unsurprising considering the original application was a Xedos6-2.0V6, Xedos9-2.25/2.5V6 & Sentia rotary luxury lines. Many V6s & I4s have exceeded 350,000 miles, the only failures on one was a Mitsubishi alternator at over 200,000 miles and the pre-Jan-1995 rear calipers on another.

i killed my k8 on my new mx at 156,000 km's head gasket went then took it to the track and around town had to add water every 5-20 minutes but then finally didnt start every spark plug hole was full of oil. I drove it like a rally car

my blue mx gs had 275,000 and burned oil but was bulletproof till it was totaled not my fault tho.

At roughly 190,000 kms I had to replace my left c/v axle, front brake pads and rotors. Had my rear rotors machined. New muffler, valve cover gasket, head cover gasket, in manifold gasket, timing belt, front sway bar links, fixed leaky air intake, timing belt tensioner, and a new rad hose.

And at 214,759 kms new alternator, rear brakes, e brake cables.

And at 218,732 kms my crank messed up. By I havnt had the damage assessed yet.

 $3,321.33, $1,246.68, and my crank will be alot

I pumped out 232,000kms (130K+ miles) on my 30x (MX-3). Still running, then I took it out to put a ZE in lol.

I have an MX-6 as well. Has 198,000 on it (120K miles). Feels beautiful to drive! I hope it lasts another 200,000

Sold my first 92 GS 5spd with 225,000 miles (about 362,000 km) and the car was running great w/ no problems.

My current 92 GS 5spd has about 150,000 miles (241,000 km) and runs awesome, does not burn oil at all.

156,000 miles on my rs before totaled it.

187,000 miles on my GS. Running okay, got some noise from the lifters already. Just changed the timing belt, cv joint, clutch master cylinder, pulleys, alternater, battery. I just basically followed the 100,000mile+ service. Other than that there is minor problems such as the door saging, Hyd. hatch lifters for the hatch door does not support the weight and you have to hold it up.
