Sweet that should be intesting. How long before yours is complete.

Still how can you say yours is larger or smaller if you dont know the actual size of mine.

well all i know for sure is that you said yours were .406" or 11mm, mine i know have higher lift but the duration i cant compaire because you didnt post that. but if its a Turbo Cam then its going to have somewhat of a small duration, as turbo cams are mainly short duration and big lift.

but the cams im running are a stage 5 N/A racing cams, @ 286 duration and .446" or 11.38mm lift. the only company i knw that makes bigger ones is Toda and i wasnt forking out the cash for thoes. i had to get a custome valve train so they would fit properly.

hopefully i should have mine done by the end of next month. i got the SDS stand alone, i need to get that up and running as well. best of luck

You have one hell of a project going. It should be great as and AWD. You are correct. The cam you have are larger, especially on the duration. So then you will be keeping you project a an NA powered.

I like the poly mounts you did. I would like some info on where to get the poly.

the motor is definatly going to be turbocharged, just im using a smaller turbo than you. im going to be running a VF12, its good to just over 300hp. but im looking to get alot of torque.

i got the polly for the mounts at http://www.mcmaster.com/ then do a search under casting compounds. one pound of the poly mix should be just enough to fill your mounts.

Josh made me a set, they really help out!

And I got the VF12 running today, when I first started boosting there was an ocasional howl, but it is gone. My injectors Orings are bad so gas was leaking done, and going through the ports flooding the engine, New Orings tomorrow and I should be good, I'll tell you this much, Boosts about the same as far as lag, close to none, and at 13.5 psi I am hitting 1300 EGT were in at 14.7 psi with the vf10, I could not hit 1200 EGT. Definantly pushing more air ;)

The only day we could go was Saturday and when I got up at 7am and saw the dopler radar I wasn't about to go only looking at a 2 hour window to tec-inspect and make a run or two before raining again (i'd of been lucky to get 1 run). We stayed up till 2am loading up the trailer hoping it would clear up some and I was pissed about the rain. I wanted to go Sunday but we spent all day Sunday transporting cars off my property due to the County Inspector scheduled to come by on Tues. My wife had a gun to my head Sunday so I wouldn't go race....LOL....Guess one of my neighbors didn't like all the cars sitting around (thats why inspector is coming). I was pissed after waiting all this time to run the car. Guess I'll be looking towards Buds Creek next month for NDRA race. We might head out to a Friday Night Street Wars race @ Virginia Motorsports Park one weekend (if we can get one that isn't raining). Someone needs to invent climate control for the race track!

Or an indoor 1/4 mile facility.

Sorry to hear that. I too thought of making th long haul but did not. I was hoping to see some good #'s from the car. Do you know what it run or will?

I need some of those Poly mounts and I am too busy to make them my self.

Hey, this is exactly what i'm doing! I hope you dont mind, but i'm using your car as the basis for mine :)

I have a 93 sohc 1.6, i'm swapping it for a bp, probably from an escort gt or a miata. I'm completely rebuilding the engine for boost at school (forgot to mention, this is my auto school project...wyotech!)

My questions:

How far can you safely bore out a bp? are there heat issues with a 2.0l bp?

Would you suggest going for turbo or supercharging? I'm split down the line, i dont know which one to do. I have ready access to all tools and parts available for basically any build one could want, so i'm not worried about anything custom, it'll be taken care of

Do you have a dyno of your hp/tq gains from this swap and all the engine work? I'd love to see it

Thanks a lot for this, i'm looking forward to 12 second 1/4 :-D

the best way to gain more displacement on a bp get a stroker kit for it, i believe corksport sells them.

myself, im a SC guy, but ive seen some very impressive numbers outta turbo's, but however your doing it the main thing is TUNE IT. and then tune it some more , and some more.

Hope this helps,

An indoor 1/4mile would be sick!

My car as is with the B6T test engine, 25psi, and an open diff Pro-LX trans should pull solid low 11's. Soon I'll put my lil race motor in (forged internals, ARP fasteners, Cometic MLS Head Gasket, Web Cams, and I might get port happy on it...I have a TIG if I hit water jackets  ). The other Pro-LX trans is laying on the table with the LSD all ready to be installed. With the race motor, 30psi, & LSD we are looking to pull low 10's all day long. I'm wanting to construct my prototype Intake Manifold soon as well (should make HUGE power gains up on the top power band range and fairly large gains in the mid power band range). I also finally constructed a free flowing street exhaust that is remarkably quiet (VA state police are finally leaving me alone even!!!!). The silencer only causes you to lose 2-4psi on really hot days (My AVC-R is still in auto learn mode) with about 500RPM's additional lag, but power seems to be down very little (30HP or so). My last exhaust setup was a Moroso muffler with a Car Chemistry Tripple Disc Insert. The car now sounds like a big A$$ air hose blasting down the road under boost with the silencer in it.

Keep in mind those performance loses are with a big turbo and big boost coupled to 3.5" exhaust w/ 3 bullet mufflers yet still out performs the old setup!

P.S.

Mini...one thing you can use to fill your mounts with is Shoe Goop, or Automotive Goop. I used it to fill my shifter mount because my shifter fell through the floor. You'll have to tape off the holes n the mounts and "inject" it into it or it will run out every where. You can also squeeze it into an old bowl, etc... and let it turn to a jelly first, then pack it into the mounts. The stuff dries pretty rigid but still flexible enough to keep from cracking out. We are turning my mounts into solid mounts with scrap metal dowels.

nice write-up a guy did for solid mounts:

http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23803

But you guys have probably already done that kind of stuff before :)

Sounds like you guys will be pushing the MX-3 Performance level up this Summer. Hopefully Josh with his AWD 2.0L will be able to throw down some fast times.
