Hi Guys,

Finally managed to do some 1/4 times with a GTech Pro speed meter device. Got a best time of 15.7 at 90mph with poor traction off the line.

Is this a good time considering my setup? What kind of times should a turbo MX3 be running?

Please comment.

what did you have to do in order to get the manifold from the gtr to fit the mx-3 ... i am picking up my mx3 in two weeks and the engine has very low milage so if it is still in very good condition i want to turbo it instead of swapping it out.

He took it off the old engine and put it on his engine.

It bolts on-- no mods needed.

Did some more test runs after changing my control arm bushings to the SRD performance versions and changing plugs/wires. Got a best of 15.4 @ 92mph with the GTech Pro device. This is at around 7/8psi.

hey mx3dohc16, did your vj-11 turbo fit without any problems, I heard that it hits the block with the b6t manifold. Can you confirm this?

Hey mxk, I got my mech to do the switch from the VJ14 (GTX) turbo to the VJ-11 (MX6/Probe) one, I believe the only things that had to be changed were the oil and coolant lines along with a slight adjustment to the downpipe.

BTW What are you guys with turbo MX3s doing to combat traction problems, I find that I am getting tons of wheelspin. :(

Fill your stock motor mounts with polyurethane. Of course, that will only help out wheel hop. You just have to get some good tires, and trial and error what rpms and how hard you need to let the clutch drop.

Wow folks,

Finally got the guts to turn up to the boost to 10psi and did 3 more runs with the GTech.

1st run 15.2 @ 93mph
2nd run 15.0 @ 93.5mph
3rd run - blew off the IC hoses and decided to call it quits.

The car feels scary at this boost level and I am still getting traction problems. My mech says he feels the car can do high 14s once we get those issues sorted out.

That's it for me.

Well guys, made some more changes to my turbo MX3. I am now running a proper FMIC instead of the stock GTX IC that I was using before. I have also replaced the stock MX6 turbo that I was using with a VJ11/TBird Hybrid turbo. The NGK plug wires have also been changed to Magnecore Competition 8.5mm wires.

I will try to get some new pics up on the site along with new 1/4mile times over the next couple of days. I am shooting for 14s in the 1/4 with my new setup.

so what all have you done and approximately how much was it?
was it just the turbo / mani / lines / fmic / valve cover? or did you change internals also?
