Don't you hate

Post by lucky13 »

I really hate construction sites. I was driving down a street and the road was all cut up, so I drive a little bit slower so that I will not hit a hard bump or anything. The city does the hole street, not one side first then the other, nnooo they do the hole thing at once. Anyway I was driving and BANG I hit a dame bump or something. When I get out of my car when I get home I checked to see if there was any damage. On my driver side front wheel I see all this black **** all over the white rim   .MMMMMMM what the hell is this, I told myself. I have not check more into it because I am running out of money. I think all that black crap was grease from the CV boot (I think). I know my passanger side is in need of a replacement of the hole CV Joint, and know the boot on the driver side.  I will take pictures today and post them later.

anyone who lives in the DC area is plagued by this problem continusely. I was down in Georgetown last night, and they got some road project that's closed two lanes. You can't even turn onto some of the side streets and parking is impossible. Then there are the darn metal plates on the rode that are raised up about 2 inches off the asphalt. And then there's the potholes and the........ ;)

Damn Barry, if you can prove all that stuff was caused by the construction I bet that you could sue the DOT for that state.

I can ask my friend if they have to reimburse you. He's one of the high ups in paving roads in our states. I pretty sure they HAVE to compensate. I know they do if they get tar on your car.

quote:
Damn Barry, if you can prove all that stuff was caused by the construction I bet that you could sue the DOT for that state.

I don’t know about where you live, but in allot of places you can’t sue the government over damage to vehicles caused by road construction. I had an 89 Trans Am, and was driving to work one day. There was a HUGE hole in the road that was cause by road work and wasn’t covered. When I went through it, it blew my tire, and the wheel locked up. I had to have to car towed, and when I got it to a shop, I found out it was pretty much a write off. The front passenger tire dropped into the hole so hard it twister my frame, blew the suspension and totally ****ed the wheel well. I didn’t even see it coming. (It was dark)
I tried to take the city of North Vancouver to court and was told I would never win the case because this is what’s called "An act of god". The city cant be held responsible for the fact there workers didn't properly cover cove what turned out to be a 3 foot long by 3 foot wide by 3 feet deep hole. I was told its like this almost all over North America. However had it been a private company contracted by the city to do the road work, its a different story.
I'd like to get my hand on the **** who didn’t cover it up. I loved that car.
I saw a street sign yesterday that said Caution! Children playing! so I slowed down. Then I thought Wait! I'm not afraid of children!

hopefully, he means ironic funny, or sad funnny.

Anyway, I agree! construction sucks! I hit one of those raised edges you took a picture of, and thought my front end was going to fall off, the didnt even paint the edge orange so you could tell it was there, just a sign with bumps on it. .....

the city hires private contracters
to do road work
either sue the contractors or the city
or sue em both...
the city will usually pay up and go after the little guys for the money later on...
