Celica engine swap questions

Post by Guest »

Ok so Im saving for a 6th gen Toyota Celica and already have a swap planned out for it. I wanna get the 3sgte engine, its a 2.0l 4cyl turbo charged engine. Depending on the generation it will be between 230hp and 255hp.
So this swap requires alot of rewiring and a new harness to adapt the engine to the car and all this stuff. But I read that if I get a standalone engine managment system then it will eliminate all of that and I can use my stock ecu for all other non-engine functions.
Does that sound right? How hard is it to set up one of these standalone systems? would it make the swap alot easier?
I know alot of you guys know your **** and I'm sure for the most part its all the same as what you deal with in your bpt's and what not so any help would be great! thanks alot!
Tim
