bout to buy a Mx-3 like monday need help!!!

Post by Mnemonic »

Ok i have 2 mx3s in my area well within 100 miles ok so here is the issue i know in the long run im gonna want the v6 so i can do a klze swap now i know u can do the 4cyl to the klze swap but do to the fact im not the richest man in the world i cant afford it, so heres sorta the issue,
the price he has on the V6 is awsome amazing and i doubt it will be around till monday, so i was wondering would it actually be so bad to get the 4cyl? there are other v6 mx3s in my area but there automatics so ive been looking around and saw that there is a 210 hp 4cyl that will fit the mx3 would it be so bad to get a 4cyl and drop in that note that this will only be for street and it will be a regular car so i would rather have a v6 but would it be so bad if it were a 4cyl
Oh 2 more questions what are top speed stock and are mx3s governed?

hey bro,
Okay, I might sound biased...but ... hold out for a v6. Make sure it is a 5spd...or you will regret it. Generally speaking the come with good options...compared to the i4 counterpart. The swap from k8 (mx3 gs v6) to KLZE will cost substantially less than the bpt swap. I heard upwards of 8 grand for that swap with all the parts needed...and labour and the engine etc... The KLZE swap is rather simple. Basically bolts right in. I payed 3300 dollars total (canadian) for the ze swap at aspec by toronto.
The top speed of the mx3 gs is i think rated at 201 km/h by carpoint.com, though many claim to have gone much faster like some stupid number of 235 km/h or more...(dont think so) governer is set at 7800 rpms - rather a rev limiter.
Bottom line, if you are not rich, get the GS model and swap the ze when you get sick of the burning oil...good luck!

actually, I think the bpt is awesome...but...it is more expensive then the KLZE no matter how you look at it.

the rs 4cyl bpt swap is capable of more hp per dollar than the v6. The v6 drives smooth as silk thou and sounds better IMO.
If its speed your after then grab an old 323 and swap the bpt in that. Crazy speed for less then $5,000
Good luck ;)

agreed, the ze swap is cheaper(though the motor itself costs more) there are just more parts to the bpt swap, but i have to say that i like the idea of a bpt swap over a ze. just something about a turbo. :D the only problem is once you get the ze, you're somewhat limited to the amount of constant hp(for you nitrous peeps :p ) where as the bpt can net you 220+ whp on a stock setup whereas the ze will only net around 170-180whp. it's true you could put a turbo on the ze, but then we're not concerned about the price are we?? it just depends on what goals you want? if you want a fairly cheap swap, and just be done with it, get the ze. if you want more, pay a little more in the beginning. either way, they're both good upgrades.

The klze is a very potent powerplant if turboed or supercharged with a done up motor but $$$$$$$$. It is probably cheaper to go bpt if you want turbo.
