problem starting car
Hey guys, I don't have an mx-3, i have a 1994 Hyundai Scoupe, but hopefully someone here can help me out. My car was running fine until after i vaccumed the car yesterday, i went to start it up, and it wouldn't start. There was just a clicking noise....eventually it started, and since than, from now on pretty much whenever I start it, i have to hold the key for a while, it clicks, clicks, clicks, than starts. I don't know much about engines or anything, but from other sources, I heard it MAY be the battery, the starter, or the spark plugs. Please help me out guys!

Re: problem starting car
is the engine turning over when you hear the click sound? if not it could either be a low battery or the starter going bad. it is NOT your spark plugs. if it usually starts up with no problems i'm gussing it is probably your starter going bad.

Re: problem starting car
well...now the car is not starting at all, nor is it even clicking
Re: problem starting car
If it is doing absolutely nothing its your battery. Switch it real quick and it should start right up. If for some reason it doesnt, swap out your starter but it def should be the battery, you just drained it more from last time.

Re: problem starting car
well we tried boosting it with jumper cables and it still wasn't starting up, and my lights are still really bright....so i'm pretty sure its the starter.....any idea how much its gonna cost to fix?
Re: problem starting car
Before you go screwing around with your starter, check your negative terminal and see if there is a ground, maybe it is on the verge and needs to be cleaned. If so, get a wire brush and do a thorough cleaning of the place where the wire attaches to your battery.

i'm pretty positive its not the battery now...the lights are still bright as hell and radio and everything still works fine, with no problems at all
