About to Lose MX-3...What to do?
Hey guys, I recently Got into an accident with my baby. It was the other guys fault so his insurance has to pay for the damages. The Estimate Came to be around $3,300 But The retail value of my car is only $4,800. Everyone is telling me that the insurance company is going to total my car. What should I do if they do? Can I fight it? Or will they just pay for the damages? I DON'T WANNA LOSE MY BABY!!!!!!!!

They can't just "total" your car. Even if they right it off you still have to give them the green light. If you tell them no, they won't get you a new one/money but they won't scrap it either.
REMEMBER!!! ---> YOU OWN THE CAR!!! They don't!!! They are just insuring it. its your car not thiers. If they try to f*ck around, lawsuit baby! Remember that it could be cheaper for you to pay for the damage then for them to give you $4000 cash, unless you can get a better mx3 for less then $7000.
If it the other guy's fault, that means you are dealing with his insurances company. This means that they have even less of a place to decided what to do with the car.
Remember: its YOUR car, so call your agent before they make a decision for you.

He is right. They can't just total your car. But here is what you can do. Find a mx-3 advertised somewhere for sale that is the same year as yours ( choose a good one ). Take that ad along when you go to the insurance guy for the estimate. If you are unhappy with how you are treated, show him the add and tell him it would take this much ( what-ever the ad says ) to replace your "totaled" car. If it is truely totaled they have to pay as much as it would take to replacxe it, not just the blue-book.

Alright, Phew. Thanks guys that's a load off. because everyone was telling me that since the damage is close to what the retail value is, is that they would just total my car and give me wholesale value for it. I kinda figured since it wasn't my fault that I would have a choice in the matter, but thanks alot guys, you've been a big help
