4-puck isn't that bad

Post by Shady469 »

well, my clutch went out and i had my ACT that i was saving until my B6T swap layin around and didnt have enough $ to buy another stock clutch so i put the ACT(4-puck w/ extreme pressure plate) in my SOHC.
there is no play what so ever, and stop and go driving is a huge pain, but it grabs HARD and made the car funner to drive(IMO). its not as bad as i thought it was gonna be; I dont think its harsh enough to break anything. but i would NOT recommend this clutch for a daily driver unless it was necessary. oh well just thought id share.
[ November 23, 2002: Message edited by: Shady469 ]

The ACT 4puck doesn't have a prung hub, hints the reason ACT named it RACE ONLY. Well Shady...it will be fun for a while, but it's only a matter of time before you'll break something. I broke a differeitial & 2 CV joints with the stock clutch. Then I swaped in the B6T & broke another diff in another tranny. To help make it last the longest possible life, spin as LITTLE as possible & avoid wheel hop at ALL costs. I used to love burnouts...untill I heard snap n pop there goes the drive train....again! Good luck...hope you don't suffer my misfortions.

Good ol' FWD trannies....less to break. ^_^
Which ACT is it? Because the 2100 4 pucks are actually nicer on a tranny than the heavy duty 3100 street clutches (why someone would need 3100 pounds of clamping force for a street car is beyond me; I mean, people run 10's on the 2800/Stage 3s)
But be prepared to break something.
Elena, don't misunderstand. A pro isn't someone who sacrifices themselves for their job. That is just a fool.

I might end up useing the ACT "Tranny Breaker" pressure plate w/ a street disc in my car later in life when it's done. Ofcoarse I'm looking at around 500-550WHP (goal is 550-600HP to flywheel), a cryo treated tranny, & custom "Drive Shaft Shop" axles made for 600HP. Who knows...I might need the hubs too! I haven't decided what to do about the differential yet. ;)
