Rear disc brake swap

Post by MX-TREME DREAM »

I've just finished my rear drum to disc brake swap. It went pretty smooth. Its just a matter of swapping the hub assemblies which are interchangable. The e-brake cables are a little different, but you can make it work if you're real thrifty. You might want to adjust your proprtioning valve or just by one for the rear disc brakes. I've noticed a big difference in my braking and the way my 17's look w/ discs behind them.<BR>As for cross drilled and slotted rotors I've heard that Canadian tire sells them for $119. CND, so thats @ $60 USA. This will be my next MX-3 endeavor. Later. :p

I'm pretty mechanically inclined so doing my own work has saved me 100's of dollars in rediculous labor charges. Then I did a little research about the project(of course on MX-3.com).I also own a 92'MX-3 shop manual I found on eBay for $30. Getting the right info is very important!!! Then I did some parts shopping and found a guy that totaled his GS and sold me both rear hub assbls., rotors, calipers, control arms, brake lines, ebrake cables, and the larger brake booster for only $200. Thats where being thrifty really helped. If I were to ask a garage to do this I would have had to take out a loan. I figure I saved @ $600.-$700. in parts and labor and my car looks damn sexy. I hope this the info you wanted. Later. :p :p
