you have the 1.8 v6 that comes stock in the mx-3 gs or you have the 1.8t I-4 from the j-spec 323 gtx/gtr....which is what i have now. :D

What I like to know is if u can bore out the 1.6L to a 1.8L,and play with the air/fuel ratio.

the only things that will actually make the car "fast" is if you get the b6t turbo and and exhaust manifold or use nitrous. about boring out the 1.6. you can, but since the cyl walls are pretty thin as it is, you would really be pushing the blocks strength. it wouldn't be as strong. if you're going to go through all that, just drop in the b6t, or if you really want a 1.8, drop in the bpt.
[ April 24, 2002: Message edited by: cre8v mx3 ]

Hey cre8v ... seems you would know a lot about the BPT swap ... you probably have the most posts on this topic ... How tuff was that swap of yours ... worth the time and effort??? ... I've been reading through all of the previous posts (hours upon hours HAHA) and I am still very much debating doing a swap or just saying screw it all ... I mean was it really all that costly??? ... And if I have a few pro lx's available as parts cars along with all of the required i/c parts and new injectors, think I'll be ok??? It just seems like a brutal-a-- job to do the whole swap well enough to get the car running right ... thanks for your input ... cheers bro' :D

The B series block is very strong, it would no doubt be able to handle a 2mm overbore but that is only worth a bit of power. TODA makes a stroker kit the uses the 2mm bore but increases displacement to 1.9l, remember though that this is a race engine. It also would cost around $5000. Using desktop dyno, a 2mm overbore and an increase in CR from 7.9 to 8.5 netted an increase of around 14 fwhp. Hardly worth the hassle.

i think if you have a few pro parts cars then you should be fine but still if youve never done an engine swap then yeah its going to be tough. but im mean if you need any questions answered then crev8 has done and so have i. he could help you more with the install and stuff but i think maldo could also help you since the b6t and the bpt are kinda the same swap. sort of. its not exactly but just listen to see what it takes for both and see which one suites you. i did the bpt swap and am completely satisfied and happy. just ask some questions or look people up on i.m. and ask then there.

thanks for the info chris. i was unaware the b6 was that strong.
as far as the swap, if you want power, do it. as long as you have all the parts and tools you need, it's not hard. i'll be doing a write up this weekend. honda killer also has some info on this as well.
[ April 24, 2002: Message edited by: cre8v mx3 ]

Hi, i'm hoping i can do some mods to my mx-3 in the near future, and my 1.6L 4 cylinder is getting kind of old...
I'm wanting to replace it with the 1.8L T4cyl (BPturbo) from www.corksport.com
I'm hoping if any of you have done this if you could tell me what kind of work would need to be done and what else I would need to purchase.
thanks
