Loud cocpitnoice!!! What can you do about it?

Post by appe »

I know it is a sportscar...but I would like to talk with a normalvoice to my passengers. Is there stuff to do to make the noice less annoying. The noice is mostly from the tires.

Are you referring to noise when the windows are up or down? If they are coming from your tires, then you might need to check your tire pressures (the might be low). If you are talking about when the windows are up, then you might just have to invest in Dynomat (or similar product) that is designed to deaden sound. It is very useful, but expensive.

Sounds like youve probably got bad tires(cupped ,unevenly worn)have you tried rotating them and see if the noise changes,or goes away?

If this is a NEW noise then it might be your tires.. If your talking about this happening ever since you got it then I got news for ya... FIRST welcome to the world of hatchbacks and SECOND that is a HUGE hatchback... You wanna cut 50%+ of the sound in the mx-3? Put sound deadening stuff in your TRUNK!! That is where most of the noise comes from. Backseat passengers will agree with that!! LOL... Go on Ebay and get it dirt cheap.. Even the imitation dynomat stuff works. If you got the money, double layer it and put it in against your firewall too... When I totally redid the interior and ripped out everything I decided to try it. Now, keep in mind, I put this from firewall to the back and under the seats, BUT OMG it sounded like I was in a LEXUS... THE STUFF WORKS!!! I havent done it in the MX-3 but anyone will tell you that most of your sound in hatchbacks from from the trunk and then the firewall... OH, also if your a stereo lover, you will notice the difference it sounds when you dont have outside noise "competeing" for noise levels. LOL

Try a custom shop or you can prolly just goto a good size part store and they could prolly order you some. Its not real expensive but its not real cheap either... The big thing isnt really the cost, but tearing your car apart all the way down to the metal to put it on.
