tips for the smoothest ride

ok im just wondering what are the steps (what is the proper order) that i should take for a tighter, and smoother ride? (by that i mean my car).<BR>ie.. what should i change, or replace or look for to fix or align or whatever and what things should i look for first to improve steering, handling all that.<BR>do new springs improve handling alot? or not?<BR>thanks

aftermarket springs make a huge handling difference but your ride will get rougher.

Two words...Sway bars. I love them dammit.

what you want is pretty much contradicting itself. In order to get a smoother ride you have to sacrifice some of your handling characteristics. If you're looking for a balance between the two, the replace your strut/springs stock for stock. Dont go adding sway bars and strut bars if you want a smooth ride. It will only stiffen things up more

Here is how you get a tight yet smoth ride.<P>use 14 inch rims.<P>use a large and wide tire something that has really good traction.205/55/15 is stock on a GS.(overall diam. 24 inches)<P>Id go with a 215/60/14 (24.2 inchs) or 225/60/14(24.7 inches)<P>you can get a 215/60/14 from BFG in their comp T/A tire.<P>The extra side wall hight will make the car ride smother over rough roads. and They have almos the same overall diam. so the speedo wond be off by much. (like 2 KPH)<P>now get a set of bigger anti-sway bars.<BR>They only REALLY work when your cornering.<BR>Thats why they are called Anti-sway bars.<P>with the wider tires and the bigger bars your handling should at least stay the same but will probably get better <P>and beacuse there is more side wall to the tires they will absorbe the bumps in the road better. <P>I did this to my 1986 ford Crown Victoria, 255/60/15 tires, with cop car sway bars and stock shocks. MAN THAT CAR COULD HANDLE!<BR>The bars did every thing.<BR>I could out turn almost anything on the road.<BR>and it could still take train tracks ant any speed and I wouldnt feel a thing.
