well, yeah, you would have a set-up similar to the bpt....but i believe the block is stronger and you have a lower c/r w/stronger internals on the bpt.....the n/a block is still very strong but you might want to beef up the bottom end. the c/r isn't really a big deal at 8.2(bpt). you could probably go up to 8.5 or 8.75....maybe even 9.0. just depends on what you want and how much tuning you're able to do.

that's what i thought but derrick at cs checked and said the part numbers were the same for the gtx and gtr blocks. i don't know, so i'm going off what he said.

For the mx-3s we have to put in a protege transmission and axels, so basically you would be in a better position to do the swap. Since it will just mount to your existing transmission (given you get the right year). The internals should definately different. Otherwise Mazda would screwing one of the engines out of horsepower (well kinda like they did with the 4cyl. MX-3). If you put the turbo from a BPT on the Protege BP engine you would have to run lower boost (i.e. less horspower) unless you upgraded the internals. Then, it would just be better to swap in the BPT.

what kindof things would need to be strengthened/upgraded on the stock BP engine to allow to be turboed? how much work and money is involved?

also am i looking for a 1.8L SOHC from the '92-'94 model or the 1.8L DOHC from the '90-'99 model? i think a '95 protege with the 1.8L DOHC is what i want but someone said converting it to a BPT would only work on '90-'94 models.<p>[ March 02, 2002: Message edited by: Carrera4 ]
