transmission problem

Post by pitachok »

Hi
I had a problem with my MX 3 today: my clutch pedal went limp with no cluch available what so ever. I thought it was just a cable that snapped or something, but when the tow truck lifted the car, there was a puddle underneath (transmission fluid). Now I am not sure if it's just my clutch or maybe transmission. All garages are closed now, but I’d like to know what could have caused that before I take it to a mechanic next week. Does anyone have any ideas?
Car: MX 3 GS
Year: 92
KM: 290,000 (i know...)

my buddy had an old toyota camry with a 5 speed and a similar thing happened.. his clutch went flat and just sat on the floor so we "bled the clutch".. you have to add fluid and pump the clutch and then release pressure from a little valve that is linked the the clutch fluid system.. im no mechanic so i dont know how to do it on an mx-3 but all i remember is that after like 15 mins of doing that on the old camry the clutch returned to full pressure and worked fine.
