[WTB] Fuel Tank - 1993 if it matters but OBD-I for sure - MI

Calling on my Canadian and Midwestern brethren to help locate a TRULY rust free fuel tank for my newly acquired and THIRD GS-SE.

Got the car running and filled up the tank excitedly with 93 octane and thought - "I should look under the car in case there are any leaks". A quarter tank ended up dispersed amongst nature on the way home from the gas station before things dried up. If the EPA only knew.

Anyway, if you have a known EXCELLENT fuel tank to go along with my Arizona rear suspension I am putting on the car (yeah - should have gotten the tank at the same time - but that's another story), please let me know.

Will travel as far as Toronto or the maybe the Chicago or Cleveland/Columbus/Cincinnati area from the Detroit burbs to get it.

If only I lived on the west coast to not have to worry about such things.

Remove the back seat then the metal plate on the floor beneath the seat and check that the pump isn't leaking. That's usually the culprit from what your describing.

I love that a fuel tank is cheaper than quality brake rotors... FML.

@ Daninski - will give that a try - interior needs to come out for a good thorough cleaning anyway.

Seems to be ok at about 5/8 of a tank and below.

@MrMazda92 - agreed. I hope everything lines up. I really prefer OE stuff but this seems like a good alternative.

Front brakes are done. New rotors, pads, and calipers. All shiny and new...

Rear suspension and/or fuel tank is next. Can the tank be lowered completely separate from the rear suspension? We had no issue with the suspension without the tank but the inverse suggests having them both off at the same time is advantageous.

Very concerned about the hard brake line interface the to rear suspension interface. Not a pretty connection anymore. If they can come loose cleanly then I'm in good shape. If not.....oy....

The brake lines release cleanly from the rear subframe if you are careful. I ended up breaking a few of the little brackets, but replaced them with parts from my original subframe.

Take your time, don't rush with the 20 year old plastic, and you should be fine!
