Clutch Kit for KLDE. Reccomendations??

Post by mikeetown »

any recommendations for a new clutch for my mazda mx-3 getting a DE in 3 weeks?? Post me a link if its online or tell me the name.

I was just going to get a stock clutch from my auto parts store. I'm assuming I should order one for my original tranny that i'll be using or should i order one for a mazda mx-6??

MX-3 clutch is fine with the MX-6 flywheel. I have been using a Exidy stock replacement I got off ebay for $100 for 3 years on my ZE and it's holding up great.

Use the MX-3 flywheel... Trust me, and use a KL clutch. The one wytbishop is recommending is the Exedy OEM replacement for a KL, not a K8, unless I'm mistaken.

Mx-3 peeps have used Mx-6 clutches for a long time. They used to be cheaper and 10mm larger in diameter to grab that little bit extra. Some companies list the exact same clutch for the K8 as for the KL.

Mx-6/Probe peeps have been using Mx-3 flywheels in their cars forever as well since it's a cheap upgrade for a lighter flywheel.

The Exedy clutch seems to be well proven around here for price, streetability and durability. I don't think I've heard of anyone have any problems with them. Back in the day, it was said that the OEM KLDE clutch barely handled the OEM motor well and it wasn't recommended.

Myself, I ran a Bully Stage 2 Mx-6 clutch on my Mx-3's original flywheel.

With clutches, use any that you wish, as long as it's a reputable brand. Stay away from the eBay "F1 Racing" ones...

Kinda exotic for no real reason. Exedy KL ressure plate w/ and ACT 6-Puck for the FC Rx7. It's an affortable combination if your making over 300hp; that's hppwdn's combo for his turbo KL.

It's a great combo for 300bhp range. Also without the heaviness or brutality of the usual stage 3 / 6 puck, much preferred it to my spec stage 3.
