K8ZE ECU?
I will be swapping out my K8 for a ZE here soon BUT when i get to the states I want to get another MX3 but leave the K8 in it for daily driving to and from work/school. I have my hands on a K8ZE ECU. Would there be ANY benefits for a american K8 putting a k8ZE ecu on it?
Re: K8ZE ECU?
I don't think anybody in north america has ever tried one

Re: K8ZE ECU?
Different rev limit? Maybe? Higher redline for the tach, so who knows
Either way, give it a shot. No egr, remember that one.

Re: K8ZE ECU?
with no egr will i fail emmisions in the states??
ok so the ECU number is a K842. Anyone heard of it. Im going to swap the ecu an see if it changes anything. Its very well known that engine electronic tuning alone can bring ot great numbers on a engine. According to wiki and all the other sites i have been to the only diffrence on the K8ZE and DE is the HP and now i have discovered the ECU. The displacement, bore, stroke, compression, bore, VAF, manifold is all the same. The only diffrence i seen on the 2 engines is the disty looks a little diffrent but that could be due to the diffrent years of the car 92 vs. 94. Yet there is more power???? maybe its the cam shafts? i believe its becuase of the ECU.......
If it is because of the cams i dont plan on opening the vavle cover becuase i JUST changed my vavle covers and i dont want to do it again, and i dont want to got through changing the valve cover on the presso because im about to sell the car in a week.

Re: K8ZE ECU?
ok so i put the ECU in the K8 and nothing diffrent happend. If anything it pulled harder and seemed fast with the K801 ECU in it. but i guess it was worth a try. I also have reason to believe the car was swapped to a KFZE years ago. On the UK registraion it says 2.0 and the car pulls ALOT harder then the MX3. I could go as far as saying its as fast as my MX6 wit ha KLDE but i dont own it anymore so i couldnt say for sure but it does "feel" like the MX6.... doesnt feel like anything in the K8 family. I mean 10 more HP???? that would not feel THAT great but 30 or 40 would for sure....

Re: K8ZE ECU?
ZE has square runners, like the KF, doesn't it?
Different VRIS onset/duration?
EGR is iffy for emissions. Worst case, bribe your tester...

Re: K8ZE ECU?
Could be a KF but might just be placebo too?
Are there any obvious markings or other ways to tell them apart on the side of the block/head perhaps? I know it's dumb but have you tried putting your K8 ECU into the PResso?

Re: K8ZE ECU?
The K8ZE uses the same IM as the Kf, doesn't it? I may be mistaken, but I believe I read that recently...
