Need a cross border shipping favor...
I wonder if one of my American friends can help a Canadian brother out?
I want to replace my front hubs but they are essentially twice the price here as they are down there and not of the American resellers on ebay ship to canada and if they do it enough to defeat the purpose of buying htem in the US. I could get them on RockAuto for $75 shipped, that's $42 for parts and $32 for shipping, whereas the same part shipped to 97201 in Portland is $8.35. Seems out of scale to me.
If someone int he northwest part of the States wouldn't mind calling their local parts place and seeing what kind of deal we can make I'd be much obliged.
Dorman #930550 Front wheel hub.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Didnt I price these for you before? Anyhow any difference you make up in price is going to kill you in customs to ship it across the border unless your looking for someone to buy them, cross and ship to you if I am following your train of thought.

wyt, I can always ship rockauto orders and have them held at a post office/facility for pickup if you would like me to do so.

My local partsource doesn't carry them. Neither does my local NAPA. What part number are you using?Tavman_1213 wrote:You can get them from partsource for $32 each.
You did. I cheaped out last time and got a couple of used ones that I thought were in good shape but I should have gotten new ones then. They are already shot. I figure someone in Oregon somewhere would have the cheapest shipping to me in Edmonton.Sleeper6 wrote:Didnt I price these for you before? The best price i get so far is $75 shipped for two from Rockauto. However that will be UPS, which means hassle and another bill at this end when I pick them up. So probably $90 in my hand. I figure a supercool guy like yourself or SuperK could get em locally for $20-24 each and ship them to me as a "gift" for $20 or less.
Still about $90 from Amazon. Shipping a rockauto order from you to me would still be pretty steep I think. I was hoping someone NW would be able to hook me up.SuperK wrote:have you tried ordering from amazon?

wyt,
why don't I purchase them for you and send them up with your tools?
I will go ahead and cover all shipping costs to you as a "thank you"

Re: Need a cross border shipping favor...
When i parted my car out, I couldn't ship anything to the US for less than $20, no matter even if it was a gas cap in the smallest box.
I got my RX8-to-LS3 harness shipped through USPS, came in with no fees and Priority shipping came in an amazing 6 days (through a weekend too).
Prices in the US are nice, but shipping is rediculous. Could of gotten LS3 coils for cheap, but shipping was $60! I got them locally (with my military discount) for marginally more than the total cost of the coil and shipping from the US, and no surprise brokerage fees to worry about...
I hate UPS.

For future reference, consider Kinek. It's a similar service to what you need. On my most recent Rockauto order (including two wheel well panels and more), it saved me over $300 in shipping (somehow going across the border adds ridiculous fees for postal/UPS/FedEx) and the tax. Only costs $5 per package to have it shipped near the border.
